So no, maybe it’s not too soon. Maybe I should’ve been thinking about Christmas weeks ago!
One of the funny things about the business of making keepsakes is, there really isn’t a season. Babies are always being born and family and friends are always celebrating it, all the year through. If we could persuade everyone to, you know, synchronise their baby-making activities so that we’d know which are the busy months for the new arrivals, that would make life much simpler for our workshop. Maybe someone should look into that. Not me, though.
Seriously though, for us it’s all about family and memories, and keeping the most precious memories as strong as the day they were made. Whether it’s a silver charm, a framed set of casts or a pair of crystal glass sculpture casts, the connection to a special event is so important in our lives. And the lovely thing is, the items we make for our customers become part of the memory itself. That’s what makes our things so meaningful to our customers.
But even though we’re busy all year round, there are definitely busier times, especially Mother’s Day, Father’s Day and yes, Christmas! That’s probably because many people have realised that our keepsakes and jewellery make the most thoughtful, personal, individual gifts you could imagine.
It’s everything you’d want in a gift. Something to be kept and treasured, and best of all, a gift that is absolutely certain to be just the right thing! Are you listening husbands and boyfriends? I’m a bloke too, so I can say this with authority – we’re not always the best at choosing great gifts, are we? How did that dustbuster go down last Christmas? Or the new hoover? Just what she always wanted?
So as I mentioned, it’s all about family, and memories. Because gathering memories is what gives us depth and keeps us close. It’s half the reason we do anything – to remember later, and then to laugh or cry about it.
And that’s why all of us at Tootsie Toes love what we do so much. We love being part of that. We love helping people to stay close wherever they may be, especially at Christmas, which is such a traditional family time. The time for new memories to be made.
