Anyone fancy a Jellybaby?

Our cogs are always turning! You know what it’s like – you think you’re not really thinking about anything, then you realise that the whole time, in your head you’ve been designing that epic tree house or dream bathroom or such. Well that’s us too. It comes with being creative!

What we wanted to do was to inject a bit of light and colour into our range of classic framed baby casts. We obviously adore the classic look. After all, it’s where we started and by far our most popular range. The metallic cast finishes and handmade Italian frames really are timeless and beautiful.

But! So many people are into the contemporary look these days, and it is lovely. Industrial chic, the upcycled and repurposed look. Unfussy and light. So shouldn’t we be doing something to complement and fit in with that sense of style?

Yes we should, Antonia (our head craftswoman) thought, as she was completing a set of 3D resin sculpture casts. Something filled with light and colour, yet still capturing all the little details that make a cast so precious to mums, dads and family down the years. But how?

Glass casts may be the answer, being gorgeously translucent. But really, glass casts are made to be touched as 3D casts. We need something to be framed. What else is there?

So she was musing this as she completed a spectacular, heavy bronze 3D resin sculpture cast. Then she realised the answer was literally in her own hands – resin! See-through resin, tinted with just about any colour you can imagine, and then framed to suit your decor and the light-filled nature of colourful resin casts. Perfect.

So now we have the Jellybaby range! But even we were amazed by the way the little casts capture the light and just glow with colour. And just as we hoped, the detail is all there to be seen! Little fingernails, tiny toes, little wrinkles all perfect and so cute.

But how’s it done? These casts are truly glass-like in nature, due to the slightly frosted matt finish, with all the detail actually visible. How did Antonia manage to make the resin look exactly like glass?

We couldn’t possibly let on our little secret, but you can enjoy the result. Your precious baby casts in just about any colour under the rainbow! When you fancy a Jellybaby, they’re so hard to resist!
